Rising energy costs are an ongoing issue for museums.

As sustainable organisations, with long term perspectives, museums want to manage energy costs and consumption closely. The Energy Action Group understands these challenges and we empower AIM members to control and reduce their energy costs.

The Energy Action Group has a proven track record of securing competitive gas and electricity quotes for AIM members all over the UK and we're proud to have been a trusted partner for over a decade. Each year hundreds of museums and trusts participate in our annual energy buying basket.

How does Collective Energy Purchasing Actually Work?

Once a year we run a group energy buying basket with contracts starting at the same time. We use the combined consumption of the basket to tender for the most competitive prices from energy suppliers. The principle is simple and relies on good buying relationships and well organised bulk tendering. Members are free to participate and choose the offer that suits them best. We provide experienced guidance to museums on contractual pros and cons and advice to help you weigh up the options. We meet regularly with suppliers to follow developments in the energy market and raise member’s issues.

How do I sign up?

Joining the AIM Energy Action Group is easy and free of charge. Simply call our friendly and experienced team on 01256 976 638 or email us at hello@eaguk.org and we will add you into the group. When renewals or utility related issues arise we are there to tender, compare and advise, saving you precious time and leaving you free to run the museum.

What happens next?

We’ll review your energy use, sites, meters & contracts. We’ll contact your current supplier, and confirm current consumption. We will obtain a range of competitive offers for you to consider. Once you’ve chosen your preferred supplier and duration we will assist with the transfer process.

REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

As part of their sustainability agenda, many Museums are calculating their greenhouse gas emissions and how to reduce them. We work with clients to monitor consumption & carbon levels, setting reduction targets and monitoring progress.

Museums shares similar processes and problems

Water: Visitor numbers impact water usage. How much are you using and are your reducing it?

Electricity: is used throughout museum sites and is expensive. Can you reduce it?

Gas: Visitors and exhibits require dependable temperatures. Are you measuring how much and when you use it?
